UVA UPSET BY DUKE IN LACROSSE

Virginia will get its chance for revenge Friday.

Ninth-ranked Duke (9-3 overall, 1-2 conference) held second-ranked UVa (8-2, 1-1) to two goals in the last 32 minutes and posted a 9-8 upset victory in an ACC men's lacrosse game Saturday in Charlottesville. The teams will play again Friday in the first round of the conference tournament in Charlottesville.

Matt Ogelsby scored three goals as the Blue Devils, who were outshot 49-26, scored four consecutive goals to take a 7-6 lead.

The Cavaliers were led by Chris Driggs and Tony Nugent, who scored two goals apiece.

In other college lacrosse:

Brett Smith scored three goals and added an assist as host Roanoke edged Denison 10-9 in a non-conference men's game.

The Maroons, ranked 10th in Division III, took a 7-3 lead and held off a furious Denison rally to beat the nation's seventh-ranked team.

Chris Mergardt scored two of his four goals and added his only assist in the last nine minutes of the game as Franklin and Marshall (5-5) rallied to upset Washington and Lee (6-4), ranked eighth in Division III, in a non-conference men's game in Lancaster, Pa.

In Blacksburg, Zack Karontonis and Adam Hayes each scored five goals as Radford (3-9) ended its season with a victory by beating Virginia Tech 16-12.
