KEYS BOOT BUCS 4-3

Frederick scored three unearned runs with two out in the bottom of the ninth inning to knock off Salem 4-3 in a Carolina League baseball game Saturday night at Harry Grove Stadium.

The Keys trailed 3-1 with two on and two out in the ninth, but Salem reliever Marc Pisciotta (0-1) hit designated hitter Roy Hodge with a pitch to load the bases. After third baseman Jay Cranford made a throwing error to let in a run, Pisciotta hit Kimera Bartee to force in the tying run.

Lincoln Martin followed with a ground ball to shortstop Juan Segura, whose throw to second was too late to get Bartee as Hodge scored the winning run.

Each team had three hits. Salem (4-5) got a good effort from starter Marc Wilkens, who gave up only two hits and no earned runs in five innings. Larry Shenk (1-0) got the victory for Frederick (5-4).
