HOKIES BLAST LOUISVILLE 25-4

Senior second baseman Justin Dobson drove in six runs to lead Virginia Tech to a 25-4 drubbing of Louisville (9-25, 0-8) in a Metro Conference game at English Field in Blacksburg.

The Hokies (18-17, 5-5) drilled the Cardinals' pitchers with six home runs, Dobson hitting a solo shot to lead off the seventh inning. He was 3-for-3.

Salem's Rob Gibson (2-1) struck out six in eight innings, giving up six hits to pick up the victory.

In Lynchburg, Alex Vaxmonsky singled home Duane Filchner and Joe Raccuia in the top of the eighth inning to give Radford a 9-8 victory over Liberty in the first game of a Big South Conference doubleheader. The Flames won the second game 6-4.

In the first game, Radford (19-15, 13-5) took advantage of 12 walks. Travis Toms (6-3) picked up the victory.

In the second game, Jason Smith (2-3) gave up one earned run in 6 innings and Tim Ulrich rapped two doubles as Liberty (14-19-1, 5-13) gained the split.
