Roseanne Arnold filed for divorce and obtained a restraining order Monday against her husband, Tom Arnold, claiming the man who shared her TV show and headline-grabbing shenanigans had physically abused her.

"I now realize that I have been a classic battered and abused wife," she said in her filing for the restraining order.

The divorce filing came three days after an argument erupted between the Arnolds on the set of ABC's "Roseanne," reportedly over a woman who had taken part with the couple in a mock three-way marriage.

Roseanne Arnold fired her husband as her show's executive producer, cut up his credit cards and dashed off to Europe for a three-month trip without him, a source close to the couple said.

Rumors have circulated for months that Tom Arnold had been having an affair with Kim Silva, an assistant. The source said Roseanne Arnold also fired Silva, who had joined the couple in a mock marriage they later called a publicity stunt.

\ Arsenio Hall is quitting his fading television talk show, which fell victim in ratings and prestige to late-night competitors David Letterman and Jay Leno.

The final "whoof, whoof, whoof" - "The Arsenio Hall Show's" trademark audience-rouser - will sound May 27, Paramount Television Group said Monday. Paramount co-produces the show with Hall's company.

Hall said in a statement that his decision to leave the show was "the most complicated" of his life, adding "everything must change and it's time."

Hall didn't mention his plans during the taping of Monday's show, but his performance was uncharacteristically flat. His monologue didn't get far beyond a few feeble jokes.
