The BLACKSBURG SENIOR ASSOCIATION, the temporary name for a new senior organization, will meet on Friday at noon in the Blacksburg Community Center on Patrick Henry Drive. The purpose of this meeting is to develop a "blueprint for enjoyment," a list of senior activities.
James Moore is chairing the steering committee which has secured help from the town to offer senior events. The committee plans to develop a charter later this year for formal adoption by members. Anyone attending the meeting may bring a brown bag lunch.

The SPRING INSTITUTE ON AGING at Virginia Tech, scheduled for May 23 and 24 at the Donaldson Brown Hotel and Conference Center, will look at aging issues faced by the rural elderly population. Thelma Bland, commissioner of the Virginia Department for the Aging, will open the two-day event. The keynote speaker, John Krout, will address "Service Delivery: Barriers and Strategies in Rural Areas."
Sessions will be presented on volunteerism, spiritual issues, housing options, mental health and a host of other topics.
Registration is $35 for both days, and $20 for one day. Participants must register by May 9. Call 231-7657 for more information.
WTOB Channel 2, the local public and government access television station, is holding TELEVISION WORKSHOPS for senior citizens. The 90-minute classes will include information on how to produce and edit videos. Participants will be allowed to borrow equipment, and their videos may be aired on Channel 2.
The workshops are scheduled for the second Friday of each month, starting with May 2, 10 -11:30 a.m. Registration deadline is the previous Monday, which is April 25 for the first one.

The Radford chapter of the American Association of Retired Persons is holding their POTLUCK DINNER today at the Radford Senior Center at 5 p.m. Special music will be presented by the Pilgrim Gospel Singers. Prizes will be awarded to the ladies with the prettiest and funniest Easter bonnets.

A van trip is scheduled on Friday to do a walking tour of Old Town Pearisburg in Giles County. Departure time is 9 a.m., and transportation fee is $4.
A senior advisory board meeting is scheduled for Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the senior center.
On Friday April 29, a van trip is planned to the North Carolina Zoological Park in Asheboro, N.C. The van will leave the National Guard Armory at 7:30 a.m. Transportation fee is $4, and admission is $4.

The Dine 'Round Club will dine out on April 27 at the Sonic Drive-In. Meet at the senior center at 12:30 p.m. to check out this new place.
If you're doing some spring cleaning, set aside books, household items, clean clothes and furniture for the April 28-30 community yard and bake sale at the old People's Drug building. Bake goods are needed the days of the sale. Proceeds will be distributed among the Pulaski Free Clinic, Youth Emergency, Habitat for Humanity, Emergency Needs Task Force and the Christmas basket fund. For information, call 980-3969.
