\ JAMES M. FOWLER, son of James E. and Franklyn L. Fowler of 3744 Melcher St. S.E., has been promoted to colonel in the U.S. Air Force.
Fowler, a 1967 graduate of Jefferson High School, is a branch chief in the Strategic Arms Reduction/Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaties Division in Washington, D.C.
\ PETTY OFFICER FIRST CLASS MARILYN H. SINOHUI, daughter of Calvin E. Huffman of 7611 Wineberry Trail and Margaret E. Roden of 4459 Keefer Road, has re-enlisted for six years in the Navy and reported to Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Fla.
Sinohui is a 1992 graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Fla.
\ PVT. KENNETH W. STAFFORD recently completed recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C. Stafford is a 1993 graduate of Cave Spring High School.
\ LANCE CPL. CHRISTOPHER M. OWENS, son of James M. Owens of 4000 Roxbury Lane and Judy A. Owens of 4593 Buck Run Court, was promoted to his present rank while serving at Marine Corps Air Station, Yuma, Ariz.
\ PETTY OFFICER FIRST CLASS THOMAS E. BUSH recently departed for a six-month deployment to the Mediterranean Sea aboard the guided missile cruiser USS Vicksburg, based in Mayport, Fla.
\ NAVY PETTY OFFICER 2ND CLASS LARRY R. FORRESTER, son of Evelyn T. Forrester of Grandin Road, recently re-enlisted for six years while serving with Naval Reserve Recruiting Command in Burtonsville, Md.

\ AIR FORCE AIRMAN 1ST CLASS WESLEY H. MOORE, whose wife, Dana, is the daughter of George W. and Mary Cox of 3365 Dawn Circle, has been named Air Intelligence Squadron airman of the quarter.
Moore is an apprentice electronic intelligence operations specialist.
\ ARMY PVT. CYNTHIA L. SHEPARD, daughter of Frances E. Garrett of Roanoke, recently completed basic training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
\ PETTY OFFICER 1ST CLASS WALTER T. POWELL, son of Walter T. Powell Jr. of 7913 Olsen Road, received a letter of commendation for superior performance while assigned at Naval Air Station Miramar in San Diego, Calif.
