Fieldcrest Cannon Inc., Eden, N.C.-based textile maker operating a towel mill in Henry County, reported sales rose 14 percent to $232.3 million in the first quarter from year-earlier $203.9 million. Net income from continuing operations was $5.5 million, or 51 cents per share, compared with a loss of $66.6 million, equal to $5.55 a share, in 1993's first quarter.
Kollmorgen
Kollmorgen Corp., Waltham, Mass., parent of Inland Motor and Industrial Drives in Radford, reported first- quarter sales of $44.2 million, down 3 percent from year-earlier $45.6 million. Net income was $850,000, or 3 cents per common share, vs. a loss of $441,000, or 10 cents a share, a year ago. Kollmorgen said its motion technologies division, which includes the Radford operations, reported sales of $26.1 million and operating profit of $1.6 million. The unit's sales fell 6 percent but profits rose 26 percent from a year earlier.
Crown American
Crown American Realty Trust, Johnstown, Pa., general partner and majority owner of Crown American Properties, operator of New River Valley Mall in Christiansburg, reported revenues of $113.4 million and net income of $8.4 million, or 31 cents per share, in 1993.
That compares with 1992 revenues of $107.8 million and net income of $7.4 million, or 27 cents per share.
