The man entered the Country Cookin' Restaurant at 2020 Roanoke St. about 10:45 p.m., as employees were closing up, according to a Christiansburg Police report.
The suspect, described as a white male wearing a white cloth over his head, pulled an automatic handgun and forced the employees into the freezer, the report said.
He fled through a back door with an undisclosed amount of money.
The employees were in the freezer for about 15 minutes, according to Sgt. D.W. Sabo of the Christiansburg Police Department. They were able to kick the freezer latch loose and call police, Sabo said.
No customers were in the restaurant at the time of the robbery, he said.
No one at the restaurant would comment on the robbery.
