Rodney "Six-Pack" Cundiff picked up his first victory at Franklin County Speedway since September on Saturday night, winning the 100-lap Late Model Stock Car feature of the National Pistol Association 300.
Cundiff's Ford Thunderbird qualified on the pole (14.19 seconds) and he led the entire race. Points leader Dudley Lawhorn was second, just ahead of Ronnie Newman. Harvey Harrison and Dennis Gardner finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
"The car ran great," Cundiff said. "I just didn't know if we'd ever get the race finished. It seemed every time we got started, the caution flag came out."
A six-car collision on lap 79 delayed action for 28 minutes and derailed Jeff Young, Steve Lynch, Kenny Wagner, Orvil Reedy, David Lucas and Larry Hodges.
In other races Saturday night:
Danny Lawrence, of the Dale Earnhardt team, banged his way to a win in the 15-lap Winston Cup Crew Chiefs race. Chuck Spicer, representing STP Motorsports, finished second, and Earl Barban, of the Rusty Wallace team, placed third.
Former Chicago Cubs and Atlanta Braves catcher Jody Davis, racing for the first time, placed fifth. Davis is a close friend of Dale Earnhardt.
Several of the Winston Cup crew members who were expected to compete - including Jimmy Pendland and Ricky Viers of Harry Gant's team - did not show because their drivers failed to qualify for today's Hanes 500 in Martinsville.
In the Pure Stock division, 1992 track champion Mike Owens won his first race this year and closed the gap on points leader Red Hartman. Jay Peery was second, one spot ahead of Leon Moles.
Street Stock points leader Mike Dudley returned to the winners' circle with another victory. Jimmy Mullins, making his first '94 appearance, was second and Leon Dalton was third.
Steve Lam won his second Mini Stock event this season, breaking a tie with co-points leader Chris Martin, who finished second. Sonny Arrington, racing for the first time this season, made a strong rally to place third.
Neal Amos prevailed in the Rookie race when Stephanie Yates and Chad Hodges simultaneously developed car problems while battling for the lead on lap 21. Thomas English and Tony Perdue placed second and third, respectively.
The scheduled $1,000 Any Car race was postponed because of curfew limitations.
