Two teams from Roanoke won championships at the USTA Mid-Atlantic Sectional mixed doubles championships in Silver Springs, Md.
The 4.0 team swept through the field undefeated, beating a pair of teams from Northern Virginia and a team from Richmond.
Playing on the 4.0 team were Libba Lemon, Dale Fitzgerald, Lynelle Hanley, Marsha Grey, Carol Fitch, Karl Stewart, Wallace Allen, Mike Traylor, Butch Traylor and Butch Church.
The 3.5 team was not undefeated, but won enough matches to earn the team title. Among its victims were a pair of teams from Northern Virginia and a team from Richmond.
Playing on the 3.5 team were Ray Lingle, Joe Wheby, Clay Agee, Larry McMahon, Peggy Obenchain, Wilma Guilliams, Tracy Agee, Lisa Parker and Brenda Ayers.

In Lynchburg, Kevin Austin won the 100 meters (10.8 seconds) and the 200 meters (22.4) as William Fleming finished third behind Charlottesville and GW-Danville at the Jefferson Invitational high school track and field meet.
Dominick Millner won the long jump for Fleming with a leap of 22 feet, 2 inches. Millner finished second in the 800 meters.
