ALMOND, Agnes M., 87, of Salem, died Tuesday, April 26, 1994 at Camelot Nursing Home, Salem. She was retired from Catawba Sanitorium and was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Bobby E. Almond. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Billy and June Almond, Blacksburg; two grandsons, and a granddaughter-in-law, Lynn and Jan Almond, Christiansburg and Jay Almond, Roanoke; two great-grandchildren, Christopher and Travis of Christiansburg; a devoted niece and nephew, Jack and Juanita Martin; also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm Thursday, April 28, 1994, at Lotz Salem Chapel with the Rev. Arthur Hearne officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday at Lotz Funeral Home, Salem. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to your favorite charity.

ANDERSON, Joyce Pentecost, 60, of Roanoke, died April 25, 1994. She was the widow of Dr. Joseph E. Anderson and worked as an LPN at Roanoke Memorial Hospital for many years. She was preceded in death by her father, Millard L. Pentecost and three brothers, Robert, Gene and Tony Pentecost. Surviving are four daughters, Bonnie B. Maxwell of Roanoke, Vickie B. Dunnavant of Wake Forest, N.C., Mitzi A. Mitchell of Wilmington, N.C., and Tracy J. Anderson of Roanoke; son, Kevin D. Anderson, South Port, N.C.; mother, Nellie L. Pentecost, Roanoke; brother, Toby H. Pentecost of Willis; three grandchildren, Taylo Marsh, Cassy Duncan, and A. J. Duncan. Funeral services will be conducted 10 am Thursday at Oakeys North Chapel by the Rev. R. Stuart Carlton. Interment will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. BOURNE, Frank Junior, 39, of Rt. 1, Independence, passed away Monday, April 25, 1994. Funeral services 2 p.m. Thursday, Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel.

BRITT, Bonnie A., 96, of Christiansburg, died Tuesday, April 26, 1994, Radford Community Hospital. Preceded in death by her daughter, Dorothy B. Odegard, she is survived by one granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Bea and E. J. Martin, Christiansburg; one grandson and granddaughter-in-law, W. Ted and Emma Odegard; four great-grandchildren, Rhonda and Tina Martin, Andrea and Karen Odegard; two special stepdaughters, Flora Sumner, Beatrice Matney. DeWITT, Elizabeth Woody, 88, of Rocky Mount, formerly of Franklin County, died Sunday, April 24, 1994, in Lewis Gale Hospital, Salem, Va. Born August 25, 1905, she was the daughter of the late George and Annie Woody. She was also preceded in death by her husband, the late Lewis P. DeWitt. She enjoyed quilt making and flowers and had a great love of and for people. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Sue D. and Gary Woods, Atlanta, Ga.; one son and daughter-in-law, Walter and Sandra DeWit t, Roanoke, Va.; one brother and sister-in-law, Trindle and Emily Woody, Sontag, Va.; one brother-in-law, George English, Glade Hill, Va.; sister-in-law, Mary Catherine Woody, Franklin County; six grandchildren and their respective spouses, Kadi Woods, Wytheville, Va., Bill Woods, Bluefield, Va., Kari and Andy Martin and Beth and Steve Jaekie, Nashville, Tenn., Jenny and Tracy Barnett, Roanoke, Va., Susan DeWitt, Richmond, Va, and one great-grandchild, Abigail Leigh (``Abby"") Barnett, Roanoke, Va. ELLIOTT, Alonzo Edward, 82, of Prices Fork, died Monday, April 25, 1994 at Montgomery Regional Hospital. Mr. Elliott was born in Montgomery County, a son of the late Joe Edward Elliott and Fannie Lillian Sheppard Elliott. Survivors include two brothers, Raymond Elliott, Blacksburg, and Justin Elliott, Marion; one sister, Edna Duffy, Washington, D. C.; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 28, 1994 at McCoy Funeral Home Chapel, with Mr. Bobby Fuller officiating. Interment will follow in the Price Cemetery, Prices Fork. FRALEY, Louise Bondurant 91, of Roanoke, died Monday, April 25, 1994. She was a daughter of the late Charles R. and Emma Wall Bondurant. She was a member of South Roanoke United Methodist Church. Surviving are her husband of sixty-eight years, Howard Brooks Fraley; two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Alex Fenik of North Kingstown, Rhode Island and Judith and Anthony Vogel of Fairfax; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Richard and Betty Jane Fraley of Dunedin, Florida; Randall P. Fraley, Fayetteville, N.C.; a sister and brother-in-law, Thelma and Harry Martin of Vinton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dr. Robert F. and Virginia Bondurant, Roanoke. HOBACK, Annie Elizabeth Hancock, 86, of Wytheville, died Monday, April 25, 1994 in the Wytheville Community Hospital. She was born in Bland County, the daughter of the late Alec Stinson and Emma Hancock. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, The White Toppers, and Friendship Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Peyton Hoback and two sons, Paul and Malcolm Millirons. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Emmalee and Leonard Hamblin of Greensboro, N.C. and Pat Kinder of Johnson City, TN; six sons and daugh ters-in-law, Estill and Dewey Millirons of Petersburg, Va., George and Beatrice Millirons of Troutville, Va., Donald Lewis and Fae Hoback of Sun Valley, Cali., Ronald and Martha Hoback of Riverside, Cali., Joseph and Kathy Hoback of Alexandria, Va., Gary and Hope Hoback of Roanoke, Va.; 23 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren also survive. LAVINDER, Ruby Gibson, 85, of Roanoke, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 1994. She was the widow of Horace E. Lavinder and was a member of Oakland Baptist Church. Mrs. Lavinder retired from the Trust Department of Dominion Bank and was a volunteer at Friendship Manor for many years. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret L. and Lacy A. Smith, Buchanan, Irene L. and Mercer A. Wade, Vienna, Va.; six grandchildren, Lewis Gibson Smith and wife, Laura, Buchanan, Catherine P. Smith, Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Elizabeth S. LEE, Kyle T., Jr. Dr., 83, of Knoxville, Tenn., died Tuesday, April 26, 1994. Dr. Lee had previously lived in Salem and practiced in the Roanoke area as an oral surgeon. He was a member of Salem Presbyterian Church. He was a member of American and Virginia Dental Associates. He was a graduate of Roanoke College, Northwestern University, Washington University, and was active in the Elks, Rotary, Masonic Lodge, KA, PSI Omega and numberous Oral Surgery Associates. Dr. Lee was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Blanks Lee. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Scott Valentine; one grandson, Stephen Valentine all of Knoxville, Tenn.; one sister, Mrs. Robert (Catherine Lee) Gilsdorf; two nephews, Robert W. Gilsdorf, Jr., Thomas Lee Gi lsdorf of Roanoke, Va. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 28, 1994, with the Rev. Collier S. MOORE, Pearl King, 91, of Wytheville, died Monday, April 25, 1994, in the Berkshire Health Care Center in Vinton. She was born in Wythe County, the daughter of the late Volney G. and Melissa J. Copenhaver King. She was a member of the Wytheville First Christian Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence S. Moore Sr.; and a son, Clarence S. ``Buck"" Moore Jr. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Freida and Richard W. Fox IV, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Frances and William B. Sprouse, Roanoke; one grandson, Randy Sprouse, Fort Worth, Texas; one sister, Eva Becraft, Roanoke. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 28, 1994 at 2 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Robert Peterson and the Rev. Holl y Phillips officiating. OBENSHAIN, Harry L., 92, of Salem, died Monday, April 25, 1994. He was retired from American Viscose. He is survived by one son, Donald W. Obenshain, Tucson, Ariz.; two grandsons, Steve Cassie Obenshain, Donald W. Obenshain Jr.; two very close friends, Mr. and Mrs. Spott Saunders, Salem. OVERSTREET, Willie Henry Sr., 80, of Bedford, passed away Monday, April 25, 1994, in the Veterans Administration Hospital, Salem. He was born January 24, 1914 in Bedford County, a son of the late Walter Overstreet and Ella Heck Overstreet. He was a retired farmer and was a veteran of World War II. His wife was the Emmie Ruff Overstreet. He is survived by four sons, Jackson W. Overstreet, Patton M. Overstreet, both of Bedford, Joseph L. Overstreet, Roanoke, Willie H. Overstreet Jr., Petersburg; two daughters, Ella O. Ruff, Rose M. Creasy, both of Bedford; one brother, David Overstreet, Bedford; two sisters, Margaret Scott, Ida Overstreet, both of Roanoke; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, April 28, 1994 at 2 p.m. from the Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford, by the Rev. Dallas Benett. Interment will follow in the Dooley F amily Cemetery. SMITH, Rev. Daniel Wilbur, 63, of Buchanan, died Tuesday, April 26, 1994, in a Roanoke hospital afte r courageously fighting cancer. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Buchanan. The Rev. Smith was reared in Pike County, Kentucky. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tenn., and a Master of Divinity degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, N.C. He served in the U.S. Navy during 1949-50 and had been a member of the Buchanan American Legion Post #93 for several years. He was the pastor of a number of churches in N.C. and Virginia, a social worker for the City of Roanoke, and was retired from the Virginia Department of Corrections. He was preceded in death by his father, Willie L. Smith; a brother, Claude Smith; and a sister, Eleanor Smith Marcum. He is survived by his mother, Ethel Blackburn Smith, Wayne, W.Va.; his wife, Virginia Dodd Smith, Buchanan; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Richard Johnson, Buchanan, Susan and Lewis Smith, Roanoke; grandsons, Matthew Johnson and Adam Smith; four brothers, Eugene Smith, Canada, Ky., The Rev. Joseph I. Smith, Williamson, W.Va., Thomas Smith, Huntington, W.Va., Glenn Smith, Georgetown, Ky.; three sisters, Irene Webb, Daytona Beach, Fla., Emogene Roe and Alene Maynard, both of Huntington, W.Va.; a large number of loving in-laws, nieces, and nephews. WHEELER, Gordon Christopher, (``Chris""), 23, of Buena Vista, died Sunday, April 24, 1994, at Stonewall Jackson Hospital in Lexington. He was born June 2, 1970, in Lynchburg, Va. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Buena Vista and was employed at Bonded Fibers. Chris was an excellent athlete and the idol of his younger brothers and sisters. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Nancy and Nathan Sensabaugh of Buena Vista; his father and stepmother, Gordon H. and Teresa Kay Wheeler of Rutherfordton, N.C.; three sisters, Annah Marie Twitty and Rebecca Ann Wheeler, both of Buena Vista, and Melissa K. Wheeler of Rutherfordton, N.C.; two brothers, Shaam Edmund Wheeler of Buena Vista and Tory Scott Wheeler of Rutherfordton, N.C.; his girlfriend, Jody Albritton of Buena Vista; his grandparents, Alvin and Jane Coleman of Buena Vista; great-grandmother, Ethel Coleman of Buena Vista; two uncles, Gary Coleman and Claude Wheeler, both of Buena Vista; an aunt, Linda Milliner of Buena Vista; stepgrandparents, Doris and Eldridge Wheeler; two nieces and one nephew, and many, many friends.
