COMMITTEE APPROVES EAGLES' SALE

The sale of the Philadelphia Eagles to movie producer Jeffrey Lurie moved a step closer to completion when the NFL's finance committee, meeting in Grapevine, Texas, unanimously approved the deal.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said all 28 owners probably will vote on the matter next week. Twenty-one must agree but the recommendation of the finance committee is almost always followed.

Lurie bought the Eagles this month from Norman Braman for $185 million, the most ever paid for a sports franchise.

Aiello said once the owners approve the sale, it will become complete when the final documents are signed, probably in mid-May.
