Roanoke County police did not know where the horse had been kept or why it had wandered into traffic about 5:40 a.m. The horse, owned by Gardner Mundy of the 1500 block of Electric Road, first was hit by a car driven by Timothy Flowers, 32, of the 5100 block of Overland Drive and then by another car driven by Bernard Morgenstern, 40, of the 5400 block of Bernard Drive.
No one was charged.
