ROANOKE BALLET GROUP ACCEPTED BY SERBA

The Southwest Virginia Ballet Company in Roanoke recently was accepted into the Southwest Regional Ballet Association at an annual dance festival at the Carolina Theatre in Greensboro.

The company performed "Ephemeron," an original piece choreographed by Terri Post, artistic director of the company.

Julie Floryan, a senior at Cave Spring High School, and Sarah Honer, a senior at Patrick Henry High School, were chosen to represent the company in a special "honors class" that concluded the festival.

Twenty-three company members attended three days of classes at the festival taught by noted professionals including: Lupe Serrano, ballerina; Mel Tomlinson, master instructor; Li Chou Cheng of Texas Christian University; Gyula Pandi of the North Carolina School of the Arts; and Richard Dryden of the New York City Ballet.

The association is comprised of 20 regional ballet companies.
