AGNEW TRIES TO STAY ON TRACK AT NRVS

Floyd's Jeff Agnew will be looking for his fourth victory in five starts tonight in the 100-lap Late Model Stock Car race at New River Valley Speedway.

Agnew will be seeking his third consecutive victory in the New River Valley Mall 200 at the Radford track.

Gates open at 2 p.m., with practice at 4 p.m. Qualifying begins at 6:15 p.m., and the first race gets under way at 8 p.m.

Peter Bucklin went 1-for-2 with two RBI, and Tosha Chantal had the go-ahead RBI in the fifth inning as Floyd County beat Galax 6-4 in a Mountain Empire District baseball game in Floyd.

Robert Favre pitched a complete game for the Buffaloes (9-3 overall, 3-2 in the district). He struck out eight and gave up five hits.

In Christiansburg, the Blue Demons (7-3) avenged an early-season loss to Virginia High School by beating the Bearcats 2-1 in overtime in non-district boys' soccer.
