NAMES & CHANGES

TAP names Bemiller for marketing

SARA BEMILLER has been named director of development for Total Action Against Poverty, a community action agency in Roanoke. She will plan and implement TAP's fundraising, marketing and public relations efforts.

Bemiller was previously a marketing consultant and a writer for the Blue Ridge Regional Business Journal.

ADVERTISING

LANE FOARD, a copywriter at The Packett Group in Roanoke from 1992 to 1994, has been hired by Goldberg Moser O'Neill, an advertising agency based in San Francisco. In his new position, Foard will be a copywriter on several national accounts.

BANKING

Central Fidelity Inc. has named two assistant vice presidents: STEPHANIE L. FULL is assistant branch manager of the Cave Spring office and has been with the bank since 1978. JANET B. MEADOWS is branch manager of the bank's Blue Ridge office and joined Central Fidelity in 1977.

EDUCATION

BILLY CANNADAY JR., who was a sales representative for Norfolk and Western railway (now Norfolk Southern Corp.) from 1972 to 1974 in Roanoke, has been appointed superintendent of schools in Hampton. The Roanoke native was most recently Hampton's assistant superintendent. He has been an educator since 1974.

FINANCIAL SERVICES

TY CASSELL has been named branch office administrator for the Roanoke office of Edward D. Jones & Co., a St. Louis-based financial services firm. He will be responsible for administration, customer service and marketing support. Cassell was formerly a branch associate.

HEALTH CARE

Community Hospital of Roanoke Valley has elected four new members to its board of directors: WILLARD N. CLAYTOR, city of Roanoke director of real estate valuation; DR. WILLIAM J. DICTEL JR., physician; W. HEYWOOD FRALIN, chief executive officer and vice chairman of Medical Facilities of America; and GEORGE W. LOGAN, an area investor.

HOSPITALITY

EDGAR ROSALES has been named The Homestead's food and beverage director to oversee hotel and conference center dining operations at the Hot Springs resort. He comes to The Homestead from Palmas Del Mar in Humacao, Puerto Rico, where he served as food and beverage director. ARTHUR BRYAN, who has been with The Homestead for more than 20 years, was promoted to assistant food and beverage director. He will work with Rosales in managing the resort's food and beverage operations and group and special events services. The Homestead is partially owned and managed by Dallas-based Club Resorts Inc.

LAW

Roanoke lawyer P. BRENT BROWN has been elected to the board of governors of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association. Brown is a partner in the firm of Carter, Brown & Osborne. Also, F. RODNEY FITZPATRICK and GEORGE W. WOOTEN, both of Roanoke, and ROGER W. MULLINS of Tazewell, will be on the board as past presidents of the organization.

MANUFACTURING

Sybron Chemicals Inc. in Salem has promoted TRI TRUONG to production supervisor for dry product formulations. Truong joined the chemical company in 1976 as production operator and was promoted to lead operator in 1991.

NONPROFITS

Goodwill Industries Tinker Mountain Inc. has elected the following officers for 1994: MURRAY K. COULTER Jr., partner at Brown Edwards & Co., president; JIM FRANTZ, president and chief executive officer of Graham White Manufacturing Co., vice president; MEG COOK, owner of Belle Aire Garden Shoppe, secretary; and DEBBIE BUCKLAND, senior vice president of the commercial division at Crestar Bank, treasurer.

ORGANIZATIONS

DANIEL G. "BUD" OAKEY has been elected to the board of directors of the Roanoke Valley Historical Society. Oakey is vice president of the Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce.

The Smith Mountain Lake Policy Advisory Board has elected officers for 1994: RONALD H. MILLER, Roanoke building commissioner, chairman; WILLIAM P. LEARY, retired from Liberty Mutual Insurance Co., vice chairman; and RICHARD F. BIDWELL, retired from U.S. Government, secretary-treasurer.
