The Floyd driver sat on the pole and led from start to finish in the 100-lap Late Model Stock portion of the New River Valley Mall 200.
It was the fourth victory for Agnew and his Chevrolet Lumina in five starts this season. It also was his third consecutive victory and the second time he has led every lap of the race.
Things started going right for Agnew on the first lap. Ray Young slipped his Oldsmobile around Agnew on the outside at the start. But by the time the two came out of turn 2, Agnew had the lead back and he never relinquished it.
The only driver who appeared to have a chance at catching Agnew was Stacy Compton.
Compton started third, but slipped back to fourth as a first-lap accident jumbled the field. Compton moved his Pontiac into third place on lap 20 and second on lap 25, setting his sights on the lead. But after cutting the distance between his car and Agnew's car for about 25 laps, Compton started to fall farther behind Agnew once again.
Compton finished second and Young third. Behind them were Salem's Kenny Prillaman in a Pontiac, Roanoke's Tim McGuire in a Chevrolet and Roanoke's Tink Reedy in a Dodge.
In other races:
Charlie Miles of Christiansburg recovered from a first-lap spin and took advantage of a late-race handling miscue by leader Mark Akers to win the first 50-lap Limited Sportsman race, the first extra-length race of the year in the division.
Miles was behind pole-sitter Akers and Bo Howell when Akers got loose and went high in turn 2 on lap 42.
"It was patience, that's the only ting I can say," Miles said of his first victory of the year. "Mark got loose and I got up under Bo and hoped he would let off the gas. I hit the gas and went past both of them."
Miles had started the race on the outside pole, but spun on the first lap coming out of turn 4. He worked his way back through the field until he was in a postion to challenge for the lead late in the race.
Howell finished second, followed by Akers, John Curtis and Hank Lawson.
Davis Phillips of Plum Creek took the lead on the start and held off pole-sitter Aaron Deplazes for all 25 laps to win the Pure Stock race for the second consecutive week. Mike Marion finished third.
Gene Duncan of Radford sat on the pole and led the entire Mini Stock race, his second consecutive victory. Kevin Light was second and Randy Bell third. The race was extended to 27 laps because of a late-race caution.
Dale Sutphin of Max Meadows started on the pole and stayed in front the whole way, winning the 25-lap Modified Mini race by more than three seconds over Jimmy Hinkley. Tim Maiden finished third.
