ROANOKE'S WOMEN WIN ODAC LACROSSE

Liz Florence and Francesca Foord-Kelcy scored three goals each, and Roanoke shut out Lynchburg in the second half to earn a 14-5 victory in the championship game of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference women's lacrosse tournament Sunday in Lynchburg.

Jen Shimrak, Kara Hedges and Susan Brown added two goals each, and Foord-Kelcy had two assists for seventh-ranked Roanoke (11-3). Kerry Campbell and goalie Kathleen Ostar (21 saves) anchored the defense.

Eileen Connor and Jess Sakinsky scored two goals each for sixth-ranked Lynchburg (15-3).

The championship improved Roanoke's chances of earning an at-large bid to the eight-team NCAA Division III national tournament.
