HOLLINS PARK PRESCHOOL CLOSES

A Roanoke County preschool has closed, its director facing charges that he took indecent liberties with a child who was enrolled at the school.

Peter L. Williams, who owned and operated the Hollins Park Preschool on Marson Road, is to be tried this month on a felony charge of taking indecent liberties under custodial care.

Williams, 66, surrendered his operating license to the Piedmont Regional office of the Virginia Department of Social Services in Roanoke on March 31, according to department documents.

Roanoke County Police Detective Debbie Hogan said Williams opened the preschool about three years ago. The number of children enrolled at the school varied but was more than 10.

Williams was living in Roanoke by himself but had family in Virginia Beach, whom he visited on weekends, Hogan said.

She declined to give details about a parent's complaint that Williams sexually molested a child at the preschool. There have been no other complaints made against Williams by other parents, she said.

Williams was arrested March 31 and released on bond. He did not return a reporter's phone call Tuesday.
