INVESTIGATORS QUESTION FAMILY OF MISSING BOY

Authorities on Wednesday questioned parents and other family members of a 5-year-old boy missing since Sunday in the rugged Appalachians, as hundreds of volunteers continued their search for him.

Foul play was not suspected in the disappearance of Victor D. Shoemaker Jr. of Leesburg, Va., said state police Sgt. Bucky Burner of the Shinnston detachment.

Burner said police wanted to go over initial statements in hopes people would remember more.

He said family members, including parents Victor Sr. and Nettie, were not required to take lie detector tests.

Burner said search teams would rest Wednesday night and resume their work at 7 a.m. today. Five dog teams planned to work throughout the night.
