Former Virginia guard Dawn Staley was among 18 finalists chosen for the U.S. women's team that will play in the World Championships and Goodwill Games. Also part of the team is Temple coach Charlene Curtis, the former Radford University head coach, who will serve as an assistant to Tara VanDerveer.

The finalists were chosen by USA Basketball after three days of trials and four days of training camp. The group will gather Sunday through May 19 at Stanford University, where the roster will be trimmed to 12. The team leaves May 19 for the World Championships, to be held June 2-12 in Australia. The Goodwill Games are Aug. 2-7 in St. Petersburg, Russia.
