ACC REAPS REWARDS OF BASKETBALL SUCCESS

The Atlantic Coast Conference still rakes in the most cash from the NCAA's basketball fund, despite Duke's loss to Arkansas in the national basketball championship.

The ACC got more than $4 million this year from the NCAA. The amount of the award is determined by a formula used to gauge performance in recent Division I men's tournaments.

Figures provided by the NCAA show the ACC getting $4,145,862 from the fund, an increase of almost $342,000 over last year.

The NCAA bases the payments on conferences' cumulative record in the previous six tournaments. From 1988 to 1993, the ACC earned 97 units to the Big Ten Conference's 88.
