"The crappie are just not biting at all," said Ike Harris, a tournament spokesman.
Only three have been entered that meet the tournament's 1 1/2-pound minimum size. The leading catch is a 1.70-pound crappie landed on a minnow in Becky's Creek by Dee Schaem of Shawsville, Harris said.
The contest, which ends at noon today, awards cash prizes for the four heaviest catches in categories for crappie, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, catfish, walleye and muskie.
The tournament's top largemouth is a 6.82-pound fish taken on live bait by Gene Arthur of Roanoke.
The best smallmouth is a 4.60-pound entry by Thomas Dolan of Richmond, who hooked his fish on a plastic lizard near Beacon Marnia.
A 14.16-pound catfish caught Friday by Jamie Arthur of Roanoke continues to lead that category.
The best walleye is a 5.49-pound catch entered by Matt Terry of Moneta.
No muskie has been entered.
