NAMES AND CHANGES

Lunsford to leave Singer

EDWIN E. LUNSFORD vice president of manufacturing services at Singer Furniture Co. in Roanoke, will retire May 11 after nearly 47 years of service. Luns-ford began his career as an accounting clerk for Johnson-Carper Furniture Co. Inc. in 1947. He was promoted to supervisor of payroll and group insurance, a position he held until he was drafted by the U.S. Army in 1951. Lunsford returned two years later to manage the data processing department. When Johnson-Carper was sold to Singer in the early 1970s, Lunsford continued working in various sales and merchandising management positions in the upholstery division. In 1974, he was appointed director of sales administration. He has been in his present position since 1989.

BANKING

J. DANIEL PACE JR. has been promoted to assistant vice president of Signet Bank. He is in charge of financial services for the Roanoke and Danville areas and sells mutual funds, annuities and other securities to individuals and corporations. Pace joined Signet in 1992 as an officer in the financial services division. Before joining Signet, he was an account executive for Dean Witter Reynolds Inc., and a stock broker for Hilliard Lyons Inc., both in Roanoke.

GOVERNMENT

Roanoke County treasurer ALFRED C. ANDERSON has been appointed to the newly formed advisory board of the Virginia State Non-Arbitrage Program, which provides Virginia localities and commissions with comprehensive bond management services including investment management, custody, cash management, legal review, accounting, record keeping and arbitrage rebate calculation services for tax-exempt financings.

LAW

JONNA M. McGRAW has become associated with the firm of Carter, Brown & Osborne P.C. She will concentrate her practice in the areas of commercial litigation and bankruptcy. McGraw has practiced law in Roanoke since 1987, and was most recently at Gentry, Locke, Rakes & Moore. She was the first chairman of the board of governors of the Virginia State Bar's bankruptcy law section and has been a member of that board since 1989. She has also been on the executive committee of the Conference of Local Bar Associations and was president of the Roanoke/New River Chapter of the Virginia Women Attorneys Association.

MANUFACTURING

CARL RADTKE has been named national sales manager for the Discus Athletic division of Tultex Corp. in Martinsville. In addition to coordinating the sales efforts of the Discus Athletic staff, he will also be responsible for new business development with major national accounts. Radtke came to Tultex in 1988 after being an independent sales representative for Champion Products. Prior to that, he was regional sales and special market sales manager at Jockey International.

ORGANIZATIONS

JOHN T. MOLUMPHY III, attorney at law, and ROMONA J. RINGSTAFF, of MCMF Corp., both of Roanoke, were elected to a three-year term on the board of directors for the Virginia Guardianship Association. HARRIETTE H. SHIVERS, an attorney with the Roanoke law firm of Martin, Hopkins & Lemon P.C., was elected president of the association.
