THE KINGS (AND QUEEN) OF WRENCHES

A good auto mechanic may be difficult to come by these days, but our readers know a good one when they find one.

We received an extensive list of favorite mechanics from loyal customers who live all over the New River Valley.

If that list is a good indication, this area has an abundance of honest mechanics who do quality work ... nearly every reader named a different mechanic.

Delbert Jones of Christiansburg praised Bobby Scott of M&M Tire on Prices Fork Road.

"He's always a perfect gentleman - honest, straightforward and has a good sense of humor," Jones wrote.

Asked to respond , Scott said bashfully that he was "real honored."

Another reader listed Lisa Andrews, service manager of Thompson Chrysler-Plymouth, as their favorite. Andrews was the only female named.

Gabor Agaston and his business, Gabor's Import Car Service, were cited by several readers. Agaston said he appreciates the favorable notice.

Another mechanic cited for good humor and know-how was Tim Linkous of the Cambria Service Center.

Marie Hypes of Radford said Linkous "has been fair and honest to us for 14 years."

"He's friendly and he treats everyone right," she added.

Here are some some other mechanics New River Valley residents depend upon:

Larry Duncan, Cody Dickerson, Terry Albright, James Peck, John Spahr, Roger Pennington, Paul Spence, John Gardner, Calvin Barnett, Pete Gotkiewicz, Tommy Tuck, David Price, Dale McCoy, Kevin Snyder, Jeff Meadows, Russell Stump, Jimmy Lytton, Tommy Alderman, Donald Howell, Bill Stables, David Jenks, Frank Jones, William Higgs, Tommy Oliver.
