BRIERY CREEK LAKE BIG BASS HOT SPOT

Briery Creek Lake has produced still another trophy largemouth bass, this one an 11-pound, 1-ounce catch for Donald Thompson of Rustburg. Thompson was casting a plastic worm from the bank.

The 845-acre public fishing lake near Farmville has thrilled anglers with a flurry of 8-pound-plus bass this spring. The largest is a 13-pound, 13-ounce lake record, caught by Wallace Bunker of Chester, who was casting a watermelon-colored plastic worm.
