The Blue Devils (10-4 overall, 6-1 in the district) snapped a 2-2 tie in the top of the seventh by scoring once on a throwing error and another on a ground out to second. Mike Ayers started the inning with a single.
Freshman Wes Self (6-1) relieved in the sixth to get the victory. Self and Bobby Cheeks were 2-for-3 for the winners.
Shawsville (10-5, 4-2) was led by Brad Dalton, who singled in both of the Shawnee runs in the fourth inning.

At Pearisburg, pinch-runner Bucky Burton stole second and third then scored on Mark Vinson's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Giles (10-5, 6-0) an 8-7 victory over Narrows in the Mountain Empire.
The Green Wave tied the score with four runs in the top of the seventh off Giles ace Mitch Reed (6-0). Brett Mosley, who had two hits and four RBI, blasted a three-run homer to left-centerfield, Jason Shipbaugh followed with a double and scored on an infield single by Jared Rhodes to tie it 7-7.
In Floyd, Bland outslugged the Buffaloes 15-9 in a Mountain Empire District game as Monty Matthews homered twice including a three-run homer in the second and a two-run shot in the seventh. For Floyd County (10-5, 4-4), Monty Moran homered with a runner on board in the first while Peter Bucklin hit a three-run homer in the second.
Ricky Helvy scattered nine hits and allowed just two earned runs as Fort Chiswell (3-10, 1-5) won at home over Auburn 10-5 in a Mountain Empire game. Adam Morgan, Dyer Jackson and Peter Kelley were 2-for-4 for the Pioneers. Steve Francis was 3-for-4 for Auburn (4-10, 3-5).
In Galax, the Maroon Tide bombed Rocky Gap 9-1 in a Mountain Empire District game as Bobby Melton threw a two-hitter, struck out nine, had two hits and stole three bases for Galax (6-10, 4-4). Rocky Gap is 0-6, 1-9.
At Lexington, Lord Botetourt held off a seventh-inning rally by Rockbridge County to beat the Wildcats 9-8 in a Blue Ridge game.
Lord Botetourt (7-5-1, 2-4-1) got two hits from Brian Davis. Jimmy Emore had a pair of hits for Rockbridge County (7-8, 3-4-0).
At Glenvar, the Highlanders ripped James River 12-0 in a Pioneer District game. Glenvar (11-2-1, 8-0) was led by Joey Taylor, who pitched a two-hitter while striking out nine. Taylor also went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. James River is 0-7, 0-5.
John Rodgers tossed a four-hitter with 13 strikeouts and Lee Phillips led off the game with a home run as Bath County (9-5, 5-4) beat Parry McCluer 4-1 in a Pioneer District game at Hot Springs.
Josh Smith homered for the Chargers, and Sham Wheeler had a solo shot for the Blues.
\ SOFTBALL: In Daleville, Lord Botetourt (6-5, 3-3) smashed Rockbridge County 16-1 in a Blue Ridge District game as Jamie Switzer tripled twice and knocked in three runs. Angie Secamiglio also had two hits and four RBI. Jessica Thompson, the winner, and Ginger Layman combined on a two-hitter over the 5-inning game. The Wildcats are 0-7, 0-12.
At Glenvar, the Highlanders (8-6-1, 5-2) gained revenge for an earlier loss by nipping James River 4-3 in a Pioneer District game. Amy Layman stole third and scored the eventual winning run on a wild throw, and Kelly Winter went 3-for-3.
James River (12-2, 7-1) was led by Angie Sink, who went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
At Northside, the Vikings beat Alleghany 5-2 in a Blue Ridge District game as Shannon Yopp struck out five and walked one in pitching a three-hitter. Northside is 8-4, 3-3; Alleghany 4-10, 2-5.
\ BOYS' SOCCER: In Vinton, unbeaten William Byrd rocked Rockbridge County 10-1 to wrap up the Blue Ridge District regular-season championship and clinch a berth in the Region III tournament. Andy McCaskill, Michael Berry and Joe Cockfield scored three goals and had one assist for Byrd (12-0, 9-0).
\ GIRLS' TENNIS: At Bassett, Fieldale-Collinsville defeated Bassett 9-0 in the semifinals of the Piedmont District tournament. The Cavaliers will play Martinsville today for the team championship.
In singles, Laurie Wimbush of Bassett defeated Kristi Westmoreland of Martinsville 6-2, 7-6. She'll play Amy Clark of Fieldale-Collinsville Thursday for the championship.
