LIME KILN WILL USE GRANTS TO STAGE 2 MUSICAL PLAYS

Lime Kiln Arts of Lexington recently wa awarded two grants from the National Endowment for the Arts to help underwrite the creation of two new musical plays.

The grants were awarded under the NEA's Opera-Musical Theater program in the New American Works category.

The first grant is for a collaboration, tentatively titled ``Glory Bound,'' between Lexington playwright Tom Ziegler, Jack Herrick of the Red Clay Ramblers, and Lime Kiln's associate artistic director, Martshal B. McAden.

James Leva, who has been working with Lime Kiln in its artists-in-residence program, will be commissioned to write ``Visitations,'' for which Lime Kiln received its second grant. Leva's wife, Carol Elizabeth Jones, will help him write the music for the piece.
