LAW WILL HELP CLINIC SAVE MONEY

The Bradley Free Clinic of the Roanoke Valley will save $5,000 in liability insurance fees each year, thanks to a law signed Tuesday.

The law will provide immunity to the clinic's directors and officers from certain lawsuits arising from services provided there. Laws already provide immunity to physicians who volunteer their services.

Executive Director Estelle Nichols said the state's expanded immunity law is one reason why Virginia has more free clinics - 27 - than any state in the nation.

The Bradley Free Clinic is celebrating its 20th year of providing free medical, dental and prescription services for working families that lack health insurance.
