YAMAGUCHI REGAINS STATUS FOR COMPETITION

Kristi Yamaguchi, a touring pro figure skater since winning the 1992 Olympic gold medal, has been reinstated by the U.S. Figure Skating Association for competition.

The sanctioning body announced the reinstatement of Yamaguchi, of Fremont, Calif., was ratified at the USFSA's annual governing council meeting last week. She is now eligible to participate in all domestic competition sanctioned by USFSA. Her reinstatement for international competition is expected at the International Skating Union council meeting in Boston in June.
