MARINE PFC. RODNEY A. GRAY, son of Nellie O. Gray of Vinton, recently reported for duty with the 4th Combat Engineer Battalion in Lynchburg.

\ MARINE CPL. MICHAEL P. BRYANT, son of Dianne M. Bryant of 3960 Carterdell Road, Salem, has reported for duty at Marine Air Corps Station in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.

\ NAVY PETTY OFFICER 3RD CLASS ROBERT L. CRIGGER, son of Bobby L. Crigger of Williamson Road and Carol R. Crigger of Frontier Road, has departed on a six-month tour to the Mediterranean aboard the USS Saratoga.

\ PETTY OFFICER 3RD CLASS JOHN S. NEWMAN, son of Richard and Frances Newman of 120 Augusta Ave., Vinton, has reported for duty at Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, Fla.

\ CPL. JOSEPH W. CRANDALL, son of Dan L. Crandall of 811 13th Street S.W., was promoted to his present rank while serving with a combat service support group at Marine Corps Air Station in Cherry Point, N.C.

\ MARINE PFC. ANDREW T. FOWLER, son of Dan M. Fowler of Orchard Hill Road, recently completed recruit training at Parris Island, S.C., and was promoted to his present rank.

\ FRANK C. SUMPTER JR., son of Frank C. Sumpter of 220 Eighth St., Vinton, and Betty Mefford of Hampton, has been promoted to the rank of master sergeant in the Air Force.
