SEARCHERS FOR MISSING WOMAN ABOUND

Day two of the search for an 84-year-old Henry County woman brought rescue workers from around and outside the state, but clues to her whereabouts were scarce.

"We've found a lot of clues, but none were in regards to" Jessie Haislip, Incident Commander Clarence Monday said.

Monday, who is with Henry County public safety, said Haislip has been missing since Monday morning. She was last seen about 31/2 miles from her home on Virginia 647 in Axton.

Monday said rescue teams from 15 different resources, including the State Police and the Virginia Search and Rescue Team, have joined the search.

"We've had folks from Norfolk and Manassas, even as far as Maryland and North Carolina," Monday said.

Search teams were working until midnight Wednesday, searching a radius around the spot Haislip last was seen. Monday said family members think Haislip, who had difficulty with her memory, was walking toward her niece's house.

Monday said members of the community have helped tremendously, giving food to rescue workers, calling in clues and joining search teams.

"We'd like folks who own land in this area to help out by searching their land," he added.

Monday said he planned to continue the search at 6a.m.
