COFFEE SELLERS SAY ...

David Booth, Quality Coffee Service, Roanoke:

``Gourmet coffee drinkers have developed a taste for a product, but they won't keep drinking it. Can you continue to afford to pay $8 to $10 a pound for gourmet or flavored coffee?''

Joann Boone, The Kroger Co., Roanoke:

``We have been notified that our prices will increase. We will sell the inventory that we have at our regular prices, but as that inventory is depleted, our prices will go up.''

Scott Elich, Mill Mountain Coffee and Tea, Roanoke:

``Roasters might be able to absorb the increase. But if the commodity rate continues to go up, I guess we'll have to raise our prices.''
