Showtimers, Rpoanoke's community theater group, will hold auditions for "The Sound of Music" on May 21 and 22 at the Showtimers Studio on McVutty Road in Roanoke and on May 24 at College Lutheran Church in Salem.
Children and teens may audition on May 21 from 10 a.m.-4:45 p.m. Adults may audition on May 22 from 6-9 p.m. and on May 24 from 7-9:45 p.m.
All auditioning should be able to sing and dance. Children and teens, also, need to schedule an appointment for their auditions. For scheduling or more information, call the director, Jeff Walker, at 342-5857 or 982-2742.
Schink speaks
California artist Christopher Schink, whose colorful watercolor paintings of jazz musicians have brought him national recognition, will speak on May 16 at 4 p.m. at Ferrum College's Stanley Library Auditorium.
Schink's lecture is titled "The History of Watercolor." He will illustrate his talk with slides from his personal collection. For more information, call 365-4358.
