BREEDLOVE, Berkeley B., of Blue Ridge, passed away Friday, May 13, 1994, after a lengthy illness. He was retired from the Payroll Department of Norfolk & Southern and a member of the Blue Ridge Church of the Brethren. He is survived by wife, Jean Poage Breedlove; daughter and son-in-law, Mary B. and J. R. Persinger of Blue Ridge; grandson, Brent Persinger; step-grandson, Chris Persinger of Covington; sister, Helen B. Nester of Villamont; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Dolly Breedlove of Buchanan; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy H. Breedlove of Bristol, Va., Betty Breedlove of Edgewater, Fla.; special devoted friends, David, Belinda, and Wayne Looney. Funeral services will be at Oakey's Vinton Chapel 11 a.m. Monday, May 16, 1994, with interment in Hillcrest Cemetery, Blue Ridge, Va. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 a nd 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Oakey's Vinton Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Blue Ridge Rescue Squad, P.O. BROOKS, Thomas Russell Sr., 76, of Roanoke, died Thursday, May 12, 1994. He was an army veteran of World War II and a retired employee of Ingersol-Rand. Surviving are his wife, Costina Brooks, Roanoke; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Russell Brooks Jr and Edna Brooks, Roanoke; one grandchild, Costina T. Brooks, Bedford County; one brother, Estol Brooks, Pearisburg; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Oakey's South Chapel 1 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Noel Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with military honors. Friends from call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Oakey's South Chapel.

EMMONS, William Dawson, 72, of Roanoke, died Thursday, May 12, 1994. Mr. Emmons was retired from Norfolk & Western Railway as Superintendent of Air Brakes. He was a member of Windsor Hills United Methodist Church and Pleasants Lodge #63 A.F. & A.M. He was also a member of B.P.O.E. in Bristol, Tenn. Surviving is his wife, Mary Hammes Emmons; several nieces and nephews. Services will be at Oakey's South Chapel 11 a.m. Monday, May 16, 1994. The Rev. D. Michael Meloy and the Rev. KILBY, James David, 70, of Salem, died Thursday, May 12, 1994. Mr. Kilby retired in 1978 from the Transportation Unit of VA Medical Center with over 30 years service. He was preceded in by two sons, Marvin and Gary Kilby. Surviving are his wife, Lu Rena Hartman Kilby; two sons and daughter-in-law, Richard S. Kilby, Mark A. and Teresa Kilby, all of Salem; two grandchildren, Marah Kilby and Jared Kilby; three brothers, Henry S. Kilby, Roanoke, Hubert Kilby, Indianapolis, Ind., Edgar Kilby, Tarboro, N.C.; three sisters, Elizabeth Slusher, Roanoke, Ruby Wimmer, Stewartsville, Peggy Bell, Salem. SIMMONS, Archie Ray, 85, of Floyd, passed away Friday, May 13, 1994, at his home. Survivors include one son, Archie J. Simmons, Roanoke; one daughter, Pauleda Cox, Christiansburg; five grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the Maberry Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Ralph Spradling officiating. Burial will be in Jacksonville Cemetery. SUTHERLAND, Kelly Orville, 92, of Wytheville, formerly of Galax and Comers Rock, Va., passed away Thursday, May 12, 1994 at Lewis-Gale Hospital, Salem, Va., after a short physical illness. He had enjoyed life and his many friends at Asbury Retirement Center for seven years and thought of it as his home. He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-seven years, Lana Hall Sutherland, and one daughter, Doris S. Mays. Mr. Sutherland spent most of his life farming in Comers Rock, retired at Washington Mills Store, Fries, Va., then worked into his eighties at A. & Z. Store, Gal ax, Va. He was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church, Galax. Surviving are one son, O. Dean Sutherland, Rocky Mount; four grandchildren, Pamela Spivey, Birmingham, Ala., Donna Taylor, Winston-Salem, N. C., Sharon Gibson, Rev. Ron Sutherland, both of Roanoke; six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel, Independence, Va., with the Rev. Ron Sutherland, grandson, officiating. Interment will be in Comers Rock Cemetery. TRUMP, Vernon Wesley, 43, of Christiansburg, died early Thursday, May 12, 1994, at his home. He was a retired employee of the Town of Christiansburg. The funeral will be held 1:30 p.m. today from the New Hope Church of God, conducted by the Rev. Michael Bond, with burial to follow in Sunset Cemetery. Arrangements by Richardson-Horne.

WHITE, Louise Barnett, 100, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, May 12, 1994. She was preceded in death by her husband, Abner White Sr. Survivors include three daughters and their husbands, Elsie and James Scott, Mrs. Mildred Lipscomb, Celestine and George Simms all of Roanoke; two sons and their wives, Abner and Marie White of Detroit, Mich., Johnny and Betty White, Cleveland, Ohio; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; a special devoted cousin, Andrew Barnett of Roanoke; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Monday 11 a.m. at the Loudon Avenue Christian Church. Rev. William L. Lee will officiate with burial in the Williams Memorial Park. WHITLEY, Bertha Clear, 88, of Saltville, died Friday, May 13, 1994, at her home in Rich Valley. She was a member of the Riverside United Methodist Church in Rich Valley. Mrs. Whitley was a retired School Teacher and also a Merchant in the Rich Valley area. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Betty Russell, Marion; one son-in-law, Mr. Robert M. Russell, Marion; two sisters, Mrs. Kate C. Buchanan, Salem, Mrs. Martha Lamie, Greenville, Tenn.; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Viola Clear, Saltville; two grandchildren, Mrs. Patricia Kilborne, Johnson City, Tenn., Mr. Robert Foster Russell, Kingsport, Tenn.; three great-grandsons; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha C. Whitley will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 15, 1994, in the Riverside United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dwight Kilborne and the Rev. Richie Neese officiating. Burial will follow in the Riversi de Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted, although donations may be made to the Saltville, Va. Rescue Squad.

WISE, Lena Curry, 94, of Buena Vista, Va., died Thursday, May 12, 1994, in Shenandoah Valley Health Care Center. Mrs. Wise was born on July 26, 1899, in Amherst County, Va. She was a member of the Oranoco Brethren Church, Amherst Co., Va. Mrs. Wise was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Curry; her husband, David C. Wise, and two sons, Emory Ray and William H. Wise. Surviving are two daughters, Frances Wise Burch, Buena Vista, and Margaret Juanita Wilkins, Newport News; one son, Clyde Coleson Wise, Madison Heights; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; and 3 great-great-stepgrandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm on Sunday, May 15, 1994, at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Frank Figgers and the Rev. Arnold Bradley officia ting. Burial will follow in the Oranoco Brethren Cemetery, Amherst Co., Va. The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 8 pm at the Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Service.
