Self, who pitched a no-hitter earlier this season, struck out eight and walked only one. Chad Shaffner and Shane Widener provided the offense for Grayson (11-5, 6-1), knocking in three runs each on two hits.

In New Castle, Glenvar's Jason Anderson shut out Craig County in a 9-0 Pioneer District victory. Anderson walked two, struck out 15 and allowed five hits, three to Craig County's Mike All. Glenvar's four-run fifth inning was keyed by David Henderson's two-run single. Glenvar is 12-2-1 overall and 9-0 in the district; Craig is 6-10 and 5-6.
At Radford, Carroll County used a six-run sixth inning to earn a 7-4 New River District victory and clinch the district championship.
Ashley Primm's two-run single tied the game and Eric Spencer's triple gave Carroll County (13-3, 4-1) the lead. Travis Griffith had two RBI for Radford (8-9, 3-2).
In Bedford, Liberty rallied for a 5-4 Seminole District victory over Staunton River. The Golden Eagles (7-9 overall and in the district) blew a 4-0 lead. Jaimie Dooley had a solo home run for Liberty (6-10 and 6-10).
In Daleville, Kameron Crowder hit a solo homer and David Dixon added a three-run shot to spark a nine-run second inning that carried Alleghany to a 12-3 victory over Lord Botetourt in the Blue Ridge District. Pat Hall pitched six innings to pick up the victory for the Mountaineers (10-4, 5-3). He gave up four hits and struck out seven.
\ SOFTBALL: At Alleghany, Mandy Sowers and Susan Wyche each had two RBI as Lord Botetourt beat Alleghany 14-6 in a Blue Ridge District game. Alania Bartley had two RBI for Alleghany (5-11, 2-8).
In Moneta, Joann Harris' two-run home run helped Liberty beat Staunton River 4-1 in a Seminole District game. Selena Byers was 2-for-3 for Liberty (12-4). Sherry Simmons was 2-for-3 with a solo home run for Staunton River (7-9).
\ TRACK: Floyd County's Monica Lucas set two records during the Mountain Empire District track meet, posting a 34-foot effort in the triple jump and a 12.7-second time in the 100 meter run.
Other girls records set or tied: Narrows' Melinda Fleeman in the shot put (38 feet, 6 1/2 inches); Giles' Tomika Saunders in the 200 meters (26.3 seconds); and Floyd's Sara Fralin in the high jump (tied, 5-0).
In the boys' competition, Auburn's V.J. Lumina set a district record by clearing 6-3 in the high jump; Ben Cooke ran the 1,600 meters in 4:39.3 to set a district mark.
