MCHARG PRINCIPAL RETIRING

Betty Henry, a veteran city educator who is principal of McHarg Elementary School, has announced her retirement.

The School Board on Thursday accepted her resignation "with regret," said Michael Wright, schools superintendent.

"She will certainly be missed," he said.

Henry has worked for Radford schools for 33 years as a teacher and an administrator. She has also been principal of Belle Heath Elementary School.

Henry will retire when the school year concludes next month.

Wright said the position as principal of McHarg Elementary will be advertised immediately.

The School Board also accepted the resignation of Phyllis McCauley, an instructor in the clinical phase of Radford schools' nursing program. She has worked for the city school system for 21 years.
