FORMER LYNCHBURG JOURNALIST WALTER POTTER SR. DIES AT 79

Walter B. Potter Sr., a former publisher of the Lynchburg and Culpeper newspapers, died Tuesday in Washington, D.C. He was 79.

Potter spent many years as the editor and publisher of a daily newspaper in Culpeper before moving to Lynchburg when the (Culpeper) Star-Exponent merged with The (Lynchburg) News & Advance in 1978. He was co-publisher of both newspapers until they were purchased by Worrell Newspapers Inc. in 1979.
