Brill's entry:
"As the fading light of a dying day filtered through the window blinds, Roger stood over his victim with a smoking .45, surprised at the serenity that filled him after pumping six slugs into the bloodless tyrant that had mocked him day after day, and then he shuffled out of the office with one last look back at the shattered computer terminal lying there like a silicon armadillo left to rot on the information highway."
The vile pun award went to Richard Patching, of Calgary, Canada, with an Arnold Schwarzenegger stretch: "The ex-weightlifter-director started the rehearsals by telling us, `OK, ve gonna be baroque composers in dis one; you be Telemann, you be Vivaldi, and I'll be Bach."
Broadcast journalist Bill Moyers underwent successful heart bypass surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital on Tuesday. Lee Taylor, a spokeswoman for Moyers' production company, said Moyers, 59, went to the hospital Monday after experiencing chest pain. He did not suffer a heart attack, she said.
2 Live Crew's Luther Campbell was arrested Tuesday in suburban Miami and accused of pointing a gun at a woman and threatening to kill her.
A Miami Lakes police spokesman said the rapper and Tina Barnett, 22, "were having a verbal altercation over their relationship [which] escalated to Mr. Campbell pointing a gun at her saying, `I swear I will kill you and dump you in a lake somewhere.' "
It wasn't clear whether Barnett was the rapper's wife or girlfriend. Campbell is free on $7,500 bond on the charge of aggravated assault.
