SPIKES AND SERVES SET: Another sure sign that spring is almost over is the spring volleyball season in Blacksburg is ending. That means there are champions to honor.

In the Men's Power League, Sting (18-3) swept its final match and finished just ahead of Stump Jumpers (16-5).

In the Women's B League, Aint Misbehavin (19-7-1) won two games out of three to edge out idle Buns of Steel (17-6-2).

In the Coed Power League, Total Control (20-0-1) had exactly that, winning six more games than runner-up KA (14-4-3).

The Women's A Power League and Coed B League Divisions I and II still are playing.

Pulaski Depot Day is June 11. So what better way to celebrate than with a volleyball tournament?

The double-elimination tournament will have three divisions: men's, women's and mixed. Trophies will be awarded to the top two teams in each division.

The entry fee is $50 per team. For more information, call CHAD HARLOW at the Pulaski Parks and Recreation Department at 980-1000 or leave a message on the Sports Information Line at 980-8343.

SWATTING SOFTBALLS: Athlete's Choice is atop the Pulaski Men's Softball League with a 4-0 record. But they have some company. Golden Corral, Electroplate Rite, Volvo GM and Daz Tech, a newcomer to the league, all are perfect through four games.

In its 19-11 victory over Xaloy, A.C. failed to hit a home run for only the second time in three seasons.

RON YORK had two of Volvo GM's seven homers as it downed All Sport 12-6. And ALLEN SMITH, STEVE JARRELLS and CECIL WOLFORD hit back-to-back-to-back home runs in the game.

The lucky number for EPR was 97. BRAD WILSON hit career home run No.97 in a 22-7 win over Budweiser. KEITH DICKERSON got pitching victory No.97 in a 4-3 win over Hustlers.

Golden Corral's PERRY REESE hit three home runs in two victories, including a pair in a 24-3 win over Renfro. Reese is just 14 round-trippers short of becoming the first player in league history to go deep 200 times.

DANNY DEAN went 4-for-4 with a home run and scored four times to lead Daz Tech past Mr. Bills 17-5.

ARCHERS ON TARGET: Triangle Bowhunters of Blacksburg holds its monthly 3-D Archery Tournament this Sunday.

Competitors will shoot one arrow at each of the 25 McKenzie Targets with a maximum distance of 45 yards.

Divisions include Open with Release, Open with Fingers, Fixed Pins with Release, Fixed Pins with Fingers, Traditional, Female, Cubs and Youth. The top three finishers in each division will receive a trophy.

Registration is from noon to 2p.m. The cost is $8 per individual or $20 per family.

Contests also will be held June 26 and July 31.
