The American Cancer Society recently held its' 21st annual golf tournament. The winners in the ladies groups were:

Division I, South Star Corp.; Division II, Ricketson, Waldron, Mabes and Rogers; and Division III, Jennings, Turner, Light and Logan.

The winners in the mens group were: Division I, Dodson, Pence, Viar, and Woodrum; Division II, HCMF Realtors; Division III, Deans, Bury, Sisler and Scott; and Division IV, Expresso Rush.

Roanoke Valley Youth Soccer to hold tryouts

The Roanoke Valley Youth Soccer Club will hold tryouts at North Cross School for the 1994-95 season.

The evening tryout schedule for boys is:

May 31: under 11, 5-6:30; under 19, 6:30-8.

June 1: under 12, 5-6:30; under 17, 6:30-8.

June 2: under 13, 5-6:30; under 16, 6:30-8.

June 3: under 14 5-6:30; under 15, 6:30-8.

June 6: under 9, 5-6:30; under 10, 6:30-8.

The evening tryout schedule for girls is:

May 30: under 11 and 12, 4:30-5:30; under 13 and 14, 5:30-6:30; under 15-19, 6:30-7:30; June 6: under 9, 5-6:30; under 10, 6:30-8.

Participants are asked to bring a soccer ball and shinguards, and to arrive 15 minutes before age group's scheduled tryout time

Golf tourney for Adult Care Center is June 10

The Adult Care Center of Roanoke Valley will hold the "Ground Round-Adult Care 18-Hole Golf Classic" June 10 at Countryside golf course.

Morning and afternoon tee times are available. The entry fee covers greens fees, carts, prizes and lunch.

Proceeds will benefit adult day care programs for older adults in the Roanoke Valley. For more information, call 989-0998.

Roanoke County has sports sign-ups planned

The Roanoke County Recreation Department is holding sign-ups for youth football, soccer and cheerleading in the North Roanoke area.

Registration for football in the 7 to 13 age group, soccer in the 7 to 17 age group, and cheerleading in the 7 to 17 age group will be held at the Hollins Fire Station Saturday and June 4 from 9 a.m. to noon.

All participants must be of age by Oct. 1, 1994.
