The choices "depend on needs we hear about and special things that our women really care about like the daily bread programs," explained president Nora McGraw. Money has been given to Daily Bread of Pulaski and Radford-Fairlawn, the Salvation Army, Montgomery County Community Shelter, Just Say No Drug Program, Good Samaritan Award, Beautification and Forestry Commission, Santa Express, Flood Relief and several others.
But a major portion of their efforts go to the patients at Saint Albans Hospital. The auxiliary maintains a clothes closet with free clothing, gives transportation fare when needed and provides money for haircuts, shoes and eye glasses.
There's "no end to what we do for patients," said McGraw.
New volunteers are always welcome, and someone is especially needed now to help maintain the Fannie Price King Garden on the hospital grounds over the summer. Call Nora McGraw at 639-9263 or Tar Sevareid at 639-1835.
