BISHOP, Brenda Cromer, 90, of Blacksburg, died Thursday, May 19, 1994 at Meadowbrook Nursing Home, Shawsville, Va. Mrs. Bishop was born in Montgomery County, Va. on May 11, 1904, a daughter of the late Robert Cromer and Agnes Wygle Cromer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Shelor Bishop. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Gerald A. and Dorothy S. Bishop, Wilmington, N. C.; one daughter-in-law, Shirley C. Bishop, Radford; three grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 1994 at McCoy Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Johnny Loughridge officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

BLANKENSHIP, Otie, 89, of Roanoke, died Wednesday, May 18, 1994. Mr. Blankenship was a retired farmer and a member of Hollins Road Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ola C. Blankenship; his sons and daughters-in-law, William E. and Mildred Blankenship, Clovis, N.M., Ervin E. and Frances Blankenship, Vinton; his brothers, Charlie Blankenship, Penhook, Davis Blankenship, Snow Creek; his sisters, Myrtle Gregory, Ola Edwards, both of Martinsville; his grandchildren, William E. Blankenship Jr., Rebecca Shober, David Blankenship; four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Oakey's North Chapel Saturday, May 21, 1 p.m. with the Rev. Mark Washington officiating. DUDLEY, Buford Edward, 65, of Hardy, died Sunday, May 15, 1994, as a result of an automobile accident in Ronan, Mont. He was the founder of Dudley Plumbing, Inc. and is survived by his wife, Clara B. Dudley; his son and daughter-in-law, William E. (Bill) and Gail M. Dudley; grandson, William E. (Billy) Dudley; his brother, James V. Dudley; his sisters, Dorothy Shelor, Lois McGuire, Jean McGuire, Betty Lou Booth; his mother, Goldie B. Dudley. Funeral services will be held noon Monday, May 23, 1994 at the 9th St. Church of the Brethren by the Rev. Graham B. Sowers and Mr. Leslie Viar with burial in Sherwood Memorial Park. FRANKLIN, Carlton D., 64, of Rt. 1, Glade Hill, passed away Thursday, May 19, 1994 at the VA Medical Center, Salem. He served in the U.S. Navy for three years and was a retired Carpenter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Major and LouElla Franklin; one brother, Artemis Franklin; one sister, Clara F. Tyree. Surviving are his wife, Lois Jones Franklin of the home; his son, Ricky L. Franklin, Glade Hill; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jessie and Alma Jones, Rocky Mount; five nieces, Gloria F. Housman and Brenda F. Cundiff both of Rocky Mount, Joyce E. Franklin, Glade Hill, Melissa and Ashli Jones both of Roanoke; two nephews, Bobby S. Tyree, Raleigh, N.C., Jimmy E. Franklin, Glade Hill. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday at Glade Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. David Long officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. FRAZIER, Joyce Ann, 49, of Austinville, passed away Thursday, May 19, 1994 at Twin County Community Hospital, Galax, Va. She was born December 7, 1994 in Carroll County, the daughter of Telford and Mary Dunford Austin of Austinville. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Frazier is survived by her husband, Delmar G. Frazier; daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Miles Caviness, Austinville; sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy and Elizabeth Frazier, Galax, Michael Joe and Betty Frazier, Austinville; sisters, Dorothy Burnett, Austinville, Teresa Goad, Hillsville, Peggy Goad, Dugspur, Katheleen Horton, Dublin, Sue Nester, Austinville; brother, Michael Austin, Austinville; two grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren. HAMMER, Mary Baeten, 80, of Blacksburg, died Thursday, May 19, 1994 at Radford Community Hospital. Mrs. Hammer was born in Chicago, Ill., on September 2, 1913, a daughter of the late Jacob Baeten and Clara Laing Baeten. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arna Johnson ``Jack"" Hammer. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Deanna J. and John E. Christensen Jr., Annandale, Kathy and Harry Reese, Hartsville, Ind.; three sons, Alan J. Hammer, Norman, Okla., David M. Hammer, Arlington, Texas, Jack Hammer, Tampa, Fla.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, May 23, 1994 at Belmont Christian Church, with Pastor Joe Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Belmont Cemetery. MURPHY, Martha Hilton, 62, of Salem, died Friday, May 20, 1994 in a Salem nursing home. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Survivors include a daughter, Donna Francis Murphy; a son and daughter in law, Michael Wayne and Dana Keith Murphy; grandchildren, Rachel Kathleen Murphy, Michael Keith Murphy, Rhiannon Lauren Murphy; stepdaughters, Rebecca White and Diane Murphy. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 23, 1994 at 11 a.m. in the John M. Oakey and Son Chapel in Salem with the Rev. Herbert E. Sublett officiating. REID, Joseph Keith, 71, of Stuarts Draft, died Thursday, May 19, 1994 in the Waynesboro Community Hospital. He was born on October 25, 1922 in Portsmouth, Ohio, a son of the late Harry Arthur Reid and Mary V. Reid. Mr. Reid served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Reid retired from TRW Manufacturing in Euclid, Ohio after 35 years of service. He was a member of the Ridgeview Baptist Church, Stuarts Draft. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Elsie Mae Henderson Reid; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Glenna Gaye Bailey, Mentor, Ohio; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Reid was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 1994 in the Williams Funeral Service Chapel, Lexington, with Pastor Don McClure officiating. Interment will follow in Timber Ridge ARP Cemetery. REYNOLDS, Harry A. Jr., 70, of Buena Vista, died Friday, May 20, 1994 at his residence. Mr. Reynolds was born in Rockbridge Co., Va. on March 21, 1924, a son of the late Harry A. Reynolds and Willie Florance Vest Reynolds. He was a member of the Lexington Presbyterian Church and attended the Oronoco Church of the Brethren in Amherst County, was a memb er of the Buena Vista Masonic Lodge #186 A.F. & A. M., and retired in 1979 from the Washington Metropolitan Transit Authority with over 35 years of service. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathleen T. Reynolds on December 30, 1986. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U. S. Army. Surviving are his wife, Odelle B. Reynolds, Buena Vista; one daughter and son-in-law, Dianne E. and Martin L. Taylor, Buena Vista; one stepson, Dennis W. Byers, Harrisonburg; one sister, Stella Jones, Hyattsville, Md.; one granddaughter, Tara Taylor, Buena Vista; one niece, Dot Doyle; and one nephew, Tommy Wilhelm, both of Roanoke. Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 1994 at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Wyatt Mayes and the Rev. E. Arnold Bradley officiating. Burial to follow in the Green Hill Cemetery, Buena Vista, with military rites by the American Legion Post #126. The Masonic Lodge #186 will serve as Honorary pallbearers. SAVILLE, Elizabeth Wilson, 88, of Vinton, died Thursday, May 19, 1994. She was the widow of Samuel R. Saville and a member of the Melrose United Methodist Church. Mrs. Saville was a retired teacher with the Roanoke City Schools. Surviving are two daughters, Ruth S. Roe of Vinton, Margaret S. Rolley of Roanoke; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Oakey's Vinton Chapel 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Richard L. McNutt officiating. Interment will be in the Green Hill Cemetery in Buena Vista at 1 p.m. Monday. SNIDER, Curtis Edward, 71, of Blacksburg, died Thursday, May 19, 1994 at VA Medical Center, Salem. Mr. Snider was born in Blacksburg on April 10, 1923, a son of the late Luther Edward Snider and Maggie Hester Vaught Snider. Survivors include 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Perry Jewel and Frances H. Snider, Blacksburg, Wirt Andrew and Mary Jo M. Snider, Salem; devoted friends, Clyde and Bonnie Mitchum, Blacksburg; numerous nieces and nephews.
