The Lottery Channel Inc. signed an agreement with the Multi-State Lottery Association to establish, perhaps by January, a national cable television lottery network, said Roger Ach, majority investor in the Cincinnati-based company.
The association is the group of 17 state lotteries that offer the Powerball lottery game. The channel would make it possible for cable viewers to play state lotteries from those states using interactive technology, Ach said.
Agreements with the states still must be worked out, he said.
Time Warner Inc., the second-largest cable television operator, has considered distributing the channel.
"We are very interested in the Lottery Channel and are very supportive of this innovative step in the industry," Thayer Bigelow, president of Time Warner Cable Programming, said in a statement provided by the Lottery Channel. - Associated Press
