BOHN, Charles Michael, (``Mike''), 76, of Salem, died Sunday evening, May 22, 1994, in a local hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Bohn and a daughter, Joyce Lee Bohn. Mr. Bohn was a retired signalman from the Norfolk & Western Railway and an Army veteran of World War II. Surviving are three nieces, Linda Prillaman, Botetourt County, Betty McVey, Vinton, Susan Worsham, R ichmond; a nephew, Bobby Farris, Salem; brothers-in-law and their wives, Harry and Mildred Farris, Roanoke, Fred and Willie Farris, Salem. Other family include Bill and Mary Lillian, Bonnie, Francis, and a very devoted friend, Cora Ethel Garrett. CRAWFORD, Alma Brickey, 83, of Catawba, died Sunday, May 22, 1994. She was the widow of Edward Crawford and a member of the Catawba Valley Baptist Church. FIELDS, Robert M. Sr., of Abingdon, died Monday, May 23, 1994 in the Johnston Memorial Hospital. He was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, Va. He was a farmer and also was a bus driver with the Washington County Va. School System and was of the holiness faith. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Fields, Abingdon; five sons, David Wayne Fields, Woodstock, Ga., Robert Fields Jr., Richmond, Henry M. Fields, Roanoke, Carl Fields and Dale Fields, both of Bristol, Va.; three daughters, Katie Lee Harris, San Diego, Calif, Bertie Mae Sanders, Sarasota, Fla., and Mary Lou Wise, Bristol, Va.; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. HUBBLE, Warren Radford, 70, of Dublin, died Monday, May 23, 1994 at his residence. He was a retired Civil Service Employee of the United States Government. He was a part-time employee of DeVi lbiss Funeral Home in Radford. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army. He was a member of Newbern Community Christian Church. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Austin Hubble, Dublin; one son, Jerry W. Hubble, Roanoke; one stepson, Greg Shanklin, Salem; two stepdaughters, Tina D. Shanklin and Katie Mitchell, both of Salem; one brother, Garnett Hubble, Bland; two grandchildren, Melanie Akins and J. W. Hubble; three stepgrandchildren, Matthew Lancaster, Tori Mitchell, and Taylor Mitchell; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Catie Akins and Erin Akins. HUTCHINSON, Clarence Preston (Buster), 69, of New Castle, died Saturday, May 21, 1994 at his home. He is survived by two sisters, Roxie Blevins of Riner and Goldie Lam, of New Castle. KULP, James Minor Jr., 47, of Alexandria, died Sunday, May 22, 1994, in the Fairfax Hospital as the result of an automobile accident. He graduated from Patrick Henry HIgh School, attended Virginia Military Institute, and graduated from George Washington University. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Minor Kulp Sr., Roanoke; his daughter, Sara Page Kulp, Alexandria; his sister, Bette Kulp Cohen, Arlington; a niece; a nephew. Memorial services will be held at the Arlington Funeral Home.

MARTIN, Luther, 87, of Pembroke, died Monday, May 23, 1994 at the home of his daughter. Born in Pembroke, he was a son of the late Dan Tazewell and Bertha Sanders Martin. He was retired from the Norfolk-Southern Railway Co. and attended the Pembroke Church of God and the First United Methodist Church of Pembroke. He was the husband of the late Lyda Young Martin and father of the late Shirley M. Johnson, Thomas O'Dell and Chester O'Dell. Surviving are one son, Carson L. Martin, Snowville; five daughters, Madeline Martin, Rocky Mount, Lorene Whittaker, Pembroke, Elizabeth Taylor, Fontana, Calif, Betty M. Marrs, Herndon, Frances M. Thornhill, Pembroke; one sister, Annie Mae McMullen, Covington; 29 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. OAKES, Dorothy Sara Schubert, 89, of Buena Vista died Monday May 23, 1994, in Richfield Retirement Home, Salem. Born in Roanoke on December 17, 1904, she was the daughter of the late Elmer A. Schubert and Anna Belle Richenbaugh Schubert. She was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church and had served on the Stonewall Jackson Board of Directors. She was preceded in death by her husband Alvin Oakes. She is survived by a nephew; Richard L. Hamilton Sr., Tampa, Fla., formerly of Buena Vista. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 25, at Green Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Hawkins officiating. Lomax Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

PAYNE, Hazel Hairfield, 83, of Roanoke, formerly of Roanoke County, passed away Sunday evening at Richfield Nursing Home, Salem, after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Payne was the widow of E. R. Payne of Roanoke County. She is survived by one sister, Lois A. Horne, Roanoke County; a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Payne was retired from S. H. Heironimus of Roanoke and was a long time member of the Eastern Star. Funeral services will be at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel at noon Wednesday, with the Rev. Ira Tolliver officiating. SCHWAB, Charles Matthew, 90, of Roanoke, died Sunday, May 22, 1994. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret and was retired from the Federal Government as Planner and Estimator with 32 years of service. Mr. Schwab loved his country and was very patriotic. He had an unusual sense of humor and enjoyed talking with people. His hobbies were traveling and tinkering. Surviving are one son, George Joseph Schwab, Redmond, Wash.; two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Jane Barber, Roanoke, Ms. Arlene M. Schwab, Hawaii; grandchildren, George Joseph Schwab Jr., Moses Lake, Wash., Christopher Schwab, Denver, Color., Jeffrey Schwab, Moses Lake, Wash., L. Tom Barber, Virginia Beach, S. Timothy Barber, Chapel Hill, N.C., C. Terry Barber, U.S. Coast Guard-Hawaii; great-grandchildren, Byron Joseph Schwab, Bianca Schwab, Michael Barber, Jacob Barber, and Ke lly Barber. THOMAS, Charles Preston, (``Toby''), 54, of 1013 Outlands Way, Virginia Beach, died on Friday, May 20, 1994, in Virginia Beach General Hospital. Mr. Thomas was born in Roanoke, Va. and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Roanoke. He was the younger son of the late Rachael Draper Thomas and the late Oscar H. Thomas. Mr. Thomas was Honorably Discharged from the United States Navy. He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Mearns Thomas; two sons, Dr. Charles P. Thomas Jr., Richmond, Va., and Shawn Draper Thomas, Shannon, Alabama; two daughters, Angela Thomas Gilson, Richmond, Ashlee Brooke Thomas, St. Augustine, Fla.; and six grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, John D. Thomas, Winston-Salem, N.C. and other relatives. Memorial services will be conducted in the chapel of Oakey's Funeral Home on Church Ave. Roanoke, on Wednesday, May 25, 1994, at 1:30 p.m., with Dr. Harry Y. Gamble officiating. THOMPSON, Thelma Perkins, 76, of Natural Bridge, died Sunday, May 22, 1994 in the Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Thompson was born in Bradshaw, W. Va., on January 1, 1918, a daughter of the late Harvey Wickham Perkins and Julia McGlothin Perkins. She was the widow of Homer Thompson. She was a member of the High Bridge Presbyterian Church, Natural Bridge, was a retired Hostess for the Jefferson National Forest Center, she loved music, and played many musical instruments and enjoyed sharing her talents with her family and friends. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Carol Thompson Fau lkner, Lexington, Miss Mary Jane Thompson, Christiansburg; four sons, Wayne Lee Thompson, Buchanan, Thomas Larry Thompson, Natural Bridge Station, James Dennis Thompson, Natural Bridge, Robert Gary Thompson, Blacksburg; four brothers, Joe Perkins, Colonial Heights, Cary Perkins, Houston Perkins and Gene Perkins, all of Natural Bridge; two sisters, Maudie P. Rice, Natural Bridge, Julia P. Shorter, Buchanan; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
