MOUNTAIN EMPIRE SEMIS TODAY

At Pulaski County, rain postponed the Mountain Empire District baseball semifinals until today. Narrows will battle Rocky Gap in the first game at 4 p.m. while Grayson County takes on Shawsville at 7 p.m.

In Hillsville, Carroll County defeated Blacksburg 12-1 in the New River District tournament to run its record to 16-3 while the Indians finish at 4-15. Jason Kilbourne went 3-for-4 with two home runs and five RBI. Brian Hawks drove in three runs while Kenny Ward was 2-for-2. Ward was also the winning pitcher, stretching his record to 9-0 and is tied for the school record of most wins in a season. He had eight strikeouts in six innings.

The other semifinal between Radford and Christiansburg was called in the sixth inning with the Blue Demons leading 4-3. It will be finished today at 4 p.m. The championship game will be played at 5 p.m. in Hillsville.
