ROANOKE WOMAN KILLED IN CAR WRECK

A Roanoke woman was killed Thursday night in a traffic accident in Botetourt County.

State police said Helen Barton Howell, 64, was driving a car that pulled into the path of oncoming traffic on Virginia 604, also known at Alternate U.S. 220.

Howell's car was struck by another car in the driver's side at the intersection with Virginia 654, police said.

She was pronounced dead at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

The accident happened at 9:07 p.m.
