The council says it has almost 800 people who have volunteered to serve on task forces that will work to develop various parts of the strategies to plot the region's future.
State Secretary of Commerce Robert Skunda will speak at the meeting, scheduled for 7 p.m. at Squires Student Center at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg.
The council also has published a brochure - with the phrases "Global Strength, Quality Living" on the front - outlining the seven broad areas of its vision: education, quality of life, health and safety, infrastructure, economy, governance and leadership.
The council's top priority is education, which it says had a $1 billion economic impact on Western Virginia in 1993.
Those interested in volunteering for the task forces can call 982-3720 in Roanoke or 231-8931 in the New River Valley.
