FLINTSTONES A MODERN STONE AGE MOVIE HIT

Box office returns have the producers of a certain TV-show-into-movie concoction yelling "Yabba-Dabba-Doo!"

"The Flintstones" rocked the box office on the official start of the summer movie season, collecting $37.5 million - a record opening for the Memorial Day Weekend, according to industry estimates Monday.

Starring John Goodman as Fred Flintstone, the live-action version of the Hanna-Barbera cartoon that was a hit TV show years ago topped the $37.03 million debut of "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" over 1989's Memorial Day Weekend, estimates show. - Associated Press
