BETTER EATING HABITS KEY TO BETTER HEALTH

Better eating habits, including giving up just a third of an ounce of saturated fat a day, could help Americans live longer and cut their medical bills by billions of dollars, nutrition and public health groups said Monday.

But most of the major health reform bills before Congress ignore the role that improved nutrition could play, according to a study sponsored by the Center for Science in the Public Interest, the American Cancer Society, the American Public Health Association and other groups.

The report urges lawmakers to require government and private health insurance to pay for nutrition counseling and therapy. - Associated Press
